Using –Omic Technologies to Model Toxicology and Cancer

Biological research is being revolutionized by an influx of high-throughput techniques that generate data in quantities far larger than possible just a decade ago. My lab focuses on using these new types of information to construct accurate models of biology. In particular we focus on understanding how drugs and toxins can induce adverse affects, and in predicting how cancer treatment can be personalized to specific individuals and their unique diseases. Students in my lab come from a broad range of research backgrounds, including biochemistry, mathematics, biology, and computer science. We work close with our clinical colleagues to ensure that our models address the most pressing translational questions regarding treatment targets, toxicity, pharmacology, and efficacy.
