Graduate: Application Deadlines
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
For thesis-based programs, there are 2 important dates associated with each application: the Application Deadline and the Document Deadline. The “Application Deadline” is the LAST date that an applicant can select, and pay the application fee for, a particular degree program. The “Document Deadline” is the LAST date that all application documents must be uploaded and received by the Department.
In order to be considered in the application rounds below, the non-refundable application fee must have been paid in full by the Application Deadline. If you pay by credit card online you may be able to pay up to the actual deadline. If you choose to mail your payment, both the invoice and payment must reach the School of Graduate Studies in time for the payment to be processed and posted. We would, therefore, recommend that you mail your payment at least 2 weeks in advance of the posted deadlines.
VISA APPLICANTS (EXCEPT US CITIZENS):
- For the fall (September) session, the application fee payment must be received by 5:00 pm on January 1st.
- The deadline for receipt of all application documents is February 1st.
Please note that although the Document Deadline default date will show as June 1st, the actual date is the date that is shown above, i.e. February 1st. Documents received after February 1st will not be considered.
All visa applicants whose overall averages are in the "A" range are automatically considered for the prestigious Connaught Scholarship. US citizens are also eligible for this Scholarship; however, because of the early scholarship deadline, any US citizen who wishes to be considered for nomination must meet the February application deadline stated above.
There is NO JANUARY ADMISSION for applicants who are not Canadian citizens, Canadian permanent residents, or US citizens.
See here for more on "Admission Requirements for Visa (International) Applicants".
CANADIAN CITIZENS, PERMANENT RESIDENTS, OR US CITIZENS:
- For the fall (September) session, the application fee payment must be received by 5:00 pm on May 1st.
- The deadline for receipt of all application documents is June 1st.
- For the Applied Clinical Pharmacology M.Sc. stream, fee and documentation must be received by May 1st.
It is recommended that Canadians and US citizens who wish to receive an early offer of admission apply to meet the February 1st deadline since complete applications are considered as they are received.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE JANUARY SESSION:
There is NO JANUARY ADMISSION for M.Sc. applicants.
- For the (January) session (PhD applicants only), the application fee payment must be received by 5:00 pm on September 1st.
- The deadline for receipt of all application documents is October 1st.
Why Apply Early? See "What Happens After My Application is Received?"
To avoid disappointment, applicants should keep checking the online application website to ascertain that ALL documentation (and payment) have been received by the stated deadlines. There will be no exceptions. The application is only considered complete when all components of the application process have been completed by their assigned deadlines, and payment and supporting documents have been received by the University of Toronto.
The Pharmacology graduate program receives a large number of applications for admission. This means that we are forced to be very selective when making conditional offers of acceptance. In addition, admission to graduate programs in the Basic Medical Sciences is extremely competitive, and the number of available positions with graduate supervisors can be limited by funding or other factors. Applicants should apply to all programs they may be interested in.
ALL DECISIONS REGARDING ADMISSION ARE BASED ON A DETAILED EXAMINATION OF THE COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKAGE.
