Students are encouraged to apply for all awards and funding opportunities for which they are eligible.
Many scholarships and internal awards at the University of Toronto have specific eligibility requirements. In addition, many awards are restricted to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Application deadlines may be as early as October of the year preceding the start of the program, and most awards are intended for full-time students.
In most cases, applications are submitted through the institution where the applicant is currently studying or from which they are graduating. Applicants are encouraged to review the specific award guidelines before applying.
Funding opportunities for international students are limited and are generally reserved for highly qualified candidates. For more information about funding available to international students, please visit the International Student Awards section on the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) website.
University of Toronto Fellowships
All eligible applicants and current graduate students in the funded cohort are considered for University of Toronto Fellowships. Students are not required to apply for these Fellowships; students are nominated by the Department for these awards throughout the year.
Travel Awards
Pharmacology graduate students are eligible for travel awards from the Pharmacology Book Fund. The awards are for the purpose of permitting graduate students in this department to attend scientific meetings at which they will be presenting their work either as an oral presentation or as a poster. Awards are limited in number and applications must be made at least a month in advance of the meeting.
Students should also consider applying for the School of Graduate Studies' Conference Grant .
Teaching Assistantships & Assistant Invigilation
Students may have opportunities to earn additional income by serving as assistant invigilators or teaching assistants. Compensation earned through Teaching Assistantships and Assistant Invigilation is separate from the graduate student stipend.
