Gaspard Montandon

Dr. Gaspard Montandon is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology, and a scientist at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto.
His team investigates the neural mechanisms underlying opioid-related side effects, including respiratory depression and overdose. Dr. Montandon’s CIHR-funded research program uses neuroscience and pharmacology approaches in rodent models to better understand how opioid drugs act and how neural circuits mediate their effects. Dr. Montandon also teaches Systems Pharmacology and Animal Models of Human Diseases at the University of Toronto. At St. Michael’s Hospital, he serves as Director of the Research Training Centre, where he oversees the training of students and postdoctoral fellows.
