Dr. Arnot's research interests include understanding the role of ion channels in the brain and cardiac cells, and their potential as targets by a variety of drugs. More specifically, she is interested in the physiological alterations that occur following chronic drug stimulation of these ion channels. Although her most recent research has involved voltage-gated calcium channels, she also continues to be interested in the GABA-A receptor and its modulation within the brain. 

Dr. Arnot's educational scholarship interests include examining how students learn in “science” courses and how this learning may be altered by various pedagogical practices. More specifically, she is interested in how to engage students in the role that pharmacology/toxicology play in society at large.
