Basic sciences highlight: effects of intermittent parathyroid hormone on bone and muscle
Sung-Hee Seanna Yoon a PhD student in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology (supervised by Dr. Jane Mitchell and Dr. Marc Grynpas), recently received a prestigious Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research for her work showing the positive effects of intermittent parathyroid hormone therapy to prevent glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis and improve muscle function in a mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Sung-Hee presented her work at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research held in Montreal September 28-October 1st, where her findings were noted as one of the meeting's Basic Science Highlights.
