Graduate News
Levon Tokmakjian

Levon Tokmakjian, a Ph.D. candidate in Pharmacology at the University of Toronto, received the Graduate Community Development Fund (GCDF) award in recognition of his commitment to enhancing the graduate student experience through advocacy, leadership, and professional development initiatives.

The GCDF was created by the University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union (UTGSU) in partnership with the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) at the University of Toronto in March 2017 to provide merit-based equity awards recognizing exceptional students on campus for their contributions to the graduate experience. There are 10 awards granted per academic year across the entire UTGSU.

Levon’s contributions span multiple roles, including serving on two Graduate Education Councils - at both the School of Graduate Studies and within the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology - representing students at departmental and university levels, and helping to organize career-building networking events as part of the Life Sciences Career Development Syndicate (LSCDS). Through these efforts, as well as by fostering industry-academic collaborations, Levon has helped create a more supportive and opportunity-rich environment for graduate students across the university.

Congratulations, Levon, and thank you for your outstanding contributions to the U of T graduate community!
