Over 200 million people worldwide are exposed to the proven human carcinogen arsenic, due to contaminated drinking water. The focus of Dr. Kaur's scientific research is on the cellular handling of arsenic. In particular, the influence of selenium on the metabolism and transport of arsenic in human liver and blood. Her work also involves characterizing genetic differences in membrane transport proteins that may contribute to inter-individual differences in arsenic-induced toxicity.

Learning experience design has been a key component of Dr. Kaur's work in industry. Her pedagogical interests center around creating inclusive learning experiences that integrate real-world applications into the pharmacology and toxicology curriculum.
